Drummer and composer Dimitris Terpizis is an emerging artist who aims to project emotion through music and transport the listener into powerful sonic odysseys. He recognized the importance of music from a young age and began his journey to share his music with the world, connect people, and create impactful musical experiences.

Following early displays of drumming talent using kitchen utensils at age four, his musical education began with private lessons in drums, piano, and guitar, eventually leading him to Paphos Music High School. In 2017, when Paphos and Aarhus were the European Capitals of Culture, he performed numerous concerts in Cyprus and Denmark, including a performance for the Queen of Denmark, collaborated with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, and shared the stage with Yasmin Levy and several renowned Greek artists.

Dimitris continued his musical journey at the Conservatory of Maastricht in the Netherlands, studying with Arnoud Gerritse and Ron van Stratum, and graduated with honors (cum laude). He became the drummer for several big bands, including the Swing Design Big Band and Orchestravian, performing in notable concerts across the Netherlands and Germany alongside prominent European soloists. As a member of Jesse Passenier’s Fringe Orchestra, he performed alongside Camille Bertault and Lander Gyselinck. Dimitris also embarked on a European tour for the release of his debut album, performing his original music.

Today, Dimitris is a versatile musician collaborating with artists around the globe, contributing to singles, albums, film scores, and more. As an educator, he shares his unique approach to drumming worldwide. His debut album, Amorphous Odyssey, features his quartet along with Panagiotis Andreou and David Binney. He recently completed his Master’s degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, studying closely with world-renowned artists including Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, and Adam Cruz, where he further shaped his artistic voice.

Now based in the U.S., he continues his journey of creating evocative, boundary-pushing music and has recently released his EP 6211.
